Introducing: "The Double-Broadcast System" of Sing Out 2011

INTRODUCING:
THE 'SING OUT 2011' "DOUBLE-BROADCAST" SYSTEM

February 2011 is ending. Half of the four-month period for 'Sing Out 2011' Publicity and Preparation is over. And the global fun-filled education activity called "SING OUT our Love, Peace, Joy!" in the latter eight months of 2011 -- from May to December -- is fast coming soon. And so we take this opportunity to introduce to all participants SingOut2011’s DOUBLE-BROADCAST system, a synergetic pair of channels for fast human communications:

Broadcast Activity No. 1. Basic Heart Telepathy, with automatic transmissions about Love, Peace, Joy coming from all participants, especially as we happily sing together, and also whenever we share, discuss and strongly feel the spirit of these themes and about happily singing together about these same themes. Broadcast Activity No. 2. The Internet-assisted spread of lyrics and melodies of SingOut2011 songs to motivate and guide participants who would sing along as they play the song uploads, and even record as they do future uploads (with each new upload reflecting a growing number of participants, giving their names, and the location of their recorded singing.). All who receive blogs postings carrying Sing Out 2011 songs are therefore requested to forward these blogs to at least a few of their own friends and ask these friends to forward the blogs to more and more friends via various channels (word or mouth, publications, faxes, Facebook messages, emails and email groups, short-text-messaging, etc. etc.).

Also/Additionally: supportive broadcasts by radio and television stations as worked out by Sing Out 2011 participants who have access to decision-makers in these radio/television stations, and/or who have raised the resources to pay for airtime.

Of course, there would be hundreds of reasons for us not to do any of these; and Sing Out-2011 can only hope there would be at least quite a few people with both the strong will and the creativity to transform these ideas into reality, as contributions to the evolution of human consciousness promoting the ideals of love, peace, joy among all humans starting this year 2011. Will you be part of this? We certainly hope so.

"Love" and "Love" on "Love Day"

A close friend of mine related to me two weeks ago what to him was a funny incident, where still another friend said "What's the point of a "Love Day" if I have to be "loveless"??? To my close friend, the very idea of being "loveless" is absurd. "Of course, his mother loves him, and she may likely even consider him handsome!"

.........."Aw, you know what he means with that term!" I chided him. "Love in that sense doesn't include a mother's love!" Which made my friend laugh all the more. "A mother's love is the nearest thing that can be compared with God's, and it doesn't qualify to be called 'love?'"

..........Levity aside, we both agreed that when we and other people mention the four-letter L-word, we usually refer to the romantic kind. And we seem unable to dissociate the word from that sense. Which is why people reacted to me when first talked about this Sing Out our Love, Peace, Joy project and reminded me, not without guffaws, that Love is something we don't have to promote consciousness about. "Let instinct handle it!" they said and reminded me that the planet is already operpopulated as it is.

..........One friend I took pains to explain to about the need to promote "universal," or "agape" or "non-romantic" love suggested that I compose a new song about the need for this underplayed love, so the people would somehow rediscover it and apply the word "Love" to it. At first I refused, saying i don't want to pit one kind of love against another, especially the more preferred or popularly overfocused on. But in the days that followed, he put it in the form of a challenge. "Just because you have been a widower for almost two decades, just because you have become overaged for romance doesn't mean your creative juices about romantic had dried up, too!"

..........And so, i decided to take the challenge. Uto-uto! And came up with these lines for lyrics:

..........But up until this time, eve of Valentine's Day, the so-called "Love Day," I haven't been able to compose a melody that would convincingly carry the feelings lodged in the poetry of the lyrics. Instead of a convincing song, i ended with just poetry. He was right, my creative juices about romantic love had indeed all dried up. For good? Maybe, but things can still change back to my earlier songwriting days if I got surprised by a fulfilling experience between now and the time my blood itself will dry out instead of registering high figures for blood pressure. And I'm not in the mood to calculate the odds for that possibility coming through.

..........For the moment, i'm more concerned with bringing the message of relating the two main different types of love that would radiate from the same set of hearts in the same set of humans. Beyond the human reproductive instincts, that is.

Sing Out 2011 now presents the first recording of "Happy Voices Together" for group singing by family-based and friendship-based groups in their homes, neighborhoods, parks, schools, offices, etc. in as many localities as possible in countries across the globe especially during the Sing Out 2011-proper months of May through December 2011. It was composed (words & music) by Ms. Karen Virata of Sanib-Sining (movement for "synaesthetics" in the Philippines) about ten years ago, and sung recently by members of a parish church choir in Makati City.

The singers are, alphabetically, JM Arcaya, Cecille Carreon, Herminia Cantapay, Evangeline Marquez, Salvador Noveda, Grace Pedenzuela, Nestor Santos, Rosita Tesorero, Jimmy Tomico, Ramon Caralla.

Happy Voices Together sings the very spirit of Sing Out 2011, to be focused on in May-June and maintained through to the yearend, encouraging the happy singing together "not to showcase anyone's talents but to celebrate our happy togetherness upon the themes of Love, Peace, Joy." We encourage the composition, recording and upload of many equivalent songs carrying the same themes and the recording of various-language and -style versions / renditions of this song, to further the popularization of this song and of its basic spirit-- Universal Love among all humans; real, lasting Peace, and profound Joy.

We suggest that viewers of this blog sing along at least five times with this song as uploaded in Youtube (click here to play or replay) and get themselves familiar with its basic tune.

The first equivalent version of the song was composed in Filipino but is closer to the project's full title, "Sing Out our Love, Peace, Joy in 2011!" Those who have become familiar with the original song's melody may start trying to apply it to this Filipino equivalent version (lyrics by Ding Reyes, Sanib-Sining co-founder).

Another PEACE song offered by Paul Galang to SING OUT 2011

Another song for PEACE was offered last Saturday, February 5, to the SING OUT 2011 project ("Sing Out our Love, Peace, Joy!" global initiative) by Paul Galang, who has been a popular Filipino singer-composer. Like Joey Ayala, who had earlier offered to us his own PEACE song in English, which we carried in our blog (click here), for many people to learn for SING OUT 2011 (click here), Paul is our colleague in the Kamalaysayan movement for sense of history and collective sense of mission (click here). The song is titled Mapayapang Daigdig.

A multi-awarded, nationalist Filipino folksinger-songwriter known for his songs on human rights, social justice and peace, Paul Galang emerged mid-1970s as one of the powerful voices to protest against the Marcos dictatorship, He is one of the pioneering Filipino musicians to establish the culture of Filipino folksinging as a means of elevating people’s political consciousness and in expressing discontent against the injustices of the martial law era alongside artists Heber Bartolome, Freddie Aguilar, Jess Santiago, Lolita Carbon, Coritha, among others.

His more popular protest song compositions include Kailan ka pa Lalaya, Bayan?, an ode to the Filipino people’s never ending quest for freedom; Pinggan, a satirical presentation on the realities of the Filipino-American relationship throughout history; and Maong, a protest ballad dedicated to comrades in the Philippine social movement who dedicated their lives in advancing the struggle for freedom and social justice.

In the 1980s, he served as the Chairperson of the Buklurang Musikero Para sa Bayan and the Pambansang Koalisyon ng Musikong Pilipino (PAKOMPIL), both artists’ collectives committed to promoting the welfare of Filipino artists engaged in peace and social justice advocacies.

He has also toured and performed in various countries in Europe, Asia Pacific and Japan as an artist actively involved in various international solidarity activities for justice and peace.

In 1990, his song entitled Mapayapang Daigdig (released under BMG records) was awarded Best Folk Song at the Pinoy Music Awards of the FM radio station LA 105.9. It was also translated into Japanese with the title Heiwa Na Sekai and is considered as one of the anthems of the Japanese peace movement.
